Climbing Kilimanjaro

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will meet an African Big Cats Safaris representative, and transfer to the hotel under the rate. The hotel will provide all the essentials for a comfortable stay: cozy rooms, hot water, polite staff, a swimming pool, and Internet access.

In the evening there will be a briefing with our managers, who will also make sure you are ready to begin the climb.

A guide and the mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning in order to meet you and hold a quick briefing, after which you will travel by vehicle (roughly 3-4 hours) to Kilimanjaro National Park's western entrance: Londorossi Gate (2,250 m / 7,381 ft).

After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking towards the first camp of the route: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m / 8,694 ft).

On this day you will wake up early and enjoy a filling breakfast, then start trekking. Your group will reach an altitude of 3,610 m (11,843 ft). At that point, you will be able to see stunning views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano for the first time.

The big day! You'll wake around midnight to begin the final ascent under the stars. You'll climb through the night to reach Stella Point (5,756 m) as the sun rises, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,341 ft) - the Roof of Africa!

Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
